What would have happened if the atomic bomb wasnt dropped

Trumans reasoning for droping the bomb was so Japan would surrender; but many people at this time believed that Japan would have surrendered without the atomic bomb. No one can really ever figure out what would have happened if we didn't drop the atomic bomb but one thing we do know is; the arms race would not have started and the world would be completly diffrent today. Would Japan have ever backed down that is something we will never know

Why the atomic bombing changed the world

The atomic bomb changed the world in every possible way, it was a day that all the other country' would live in the shadow of the United States. The bomb might have forced the Japanese to surrender but it also created a race to arms; since the atomic bomb was dropped nearly ever countrie has obtained an atomic bomb. The new atomic bombs are much larger then the original ones having up to a 30 mile radius. In present day there are enough bombs to completly wipe out civilization

The amount of deaths caused by Bombings

President Truman decided to drop the worlds first ever atomic bomb on July 16, 1945. The bomb was equivilant to 20,000 tons of TNT. The bombs immediate kill radius was about 1 mile by 1 mile, but the radiation poising spread out much farther. The explosion was visible from 200 miles away, and killed approximatly 66,000 people in Hiroshima and 39,000 people in Nagasaki immediatly; 94,000 people were poisined from radiation and eventually over 200,000 innocent people lives were taken from them. It is believed that people today have passed down the radiation poising. This bombing has still left effects and tradjadeys behind today scaring the people of japan forever.

Thesis Statment

The United States was not justified in the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki because many innocent lives were taken. The people of America came into the war mostly because of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, many lives were taken. The amount of lives taken from the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was much larger a total of 225,000 people died when only 3,000 people died at the bombing of pearl harbor. Its not to be said that what either country did was justified but the American people could have come across another way to end the war. Many Americans at this time believed the war would have ended withouth the bombing.
